Days 8-9: Travel from Sicily to Ithaca

The last couple of days have been busy and tiring but also valuable — spending most of the last 1.5 days traveling, I have had ample time to let my curiosity flow and to allow myself to wander through the streets. I spent yesterday morning exploring Palermo and had an excellent traditional breakfast of granita and brioche, ate cannolo, and just walked around the main street:

I headed for the airport around midday and caught my flight in the evening to Paris. I ended up sleeping somewhat peacefully at the Charles de Gaulle airport before ultimately reaching Kefalonia around midday today. After landing, I took a taxi to the Argostoli Port and then a ferry to Lixouri where I’m staying for the night. According to Robert Brittlestone — and agreed upon by the GOAT Mary Beard — Lixouri (not Ithaki) is likely the true modern-day location of Odysseus’ Ithaca:
